Random

This pic was taken in Fort Worth at the Stockyards during a cattle drive. That blue car with the Go Cougs poster in the window is ours. We had NO IDEA when we parked there that cows with long, sharp horns would be traipsing by. There was a moment when I thought we might get horned!

I got gas for $2.22 today!! I'm sooooo happpppyyy!

I finally made up my mind and voted today (early voting--avoid the lines)! I love voting!

How do the primaries in your ward or stake excuse children? Do they wait for the parents to pick them up? Is there a big back up at the door? Is there a more efficient way to do this?

  1. Lots of fun random things!
When I was in the presidency, after primary always seemed chaotic. We let the Sr. Primary leave, but Jr. Primary had to wait for parents. Some of them could leave with older siblings. It's a little crazy in the hall as kids find their parents, but it's better than letting the kids run free w/o parents. We would put the sunbeams (14 of them) in a classroom separate from the other kids. But most parents are there as soon as Primary is over - we stressed the importance of picking up kids right away.

    Good luck.

  2. WOW. Scary.

Yeah for cheaper gas! I'm glad it's on the go-down!

I have my mail-in ballot so no worries for kids. That would be akward.

  3. Margaret, she meant ward primaries, not in the political sense! LOL. But that's ok. You're blonde. I'll let it pass.

I love that gas is cheaper! Makes me happy.

    Those horns are dang scary.

I love your random post, Sally. But my favorite is still the Jesus cake post.

  5. We had our primary program practice this morning and it wore me out. (And I didn't even have to do anything for it!) I don't have any great suggestions for how to dismiss the kids, but my heart does go out to you. I wish you were our primary president.

  6. I'm laughing at Meg's comment and Rachel's reaction...
Them be some LONG horns! I'd be nervous about the prospects of a 'horning' as well.
The senior primary is excused. The junior primary has to wait for parents. Yes, there is congestion at the door BUT, my three and five year old are NOT wandering the halls either. I'll take the congestion over lost kiddos. They also stressed to the parents that immediate pickup was necessary. The other ward is entering the primary room within 10 minutes so, we have to move quickly. Good luck!

  7. Ouch. I guess I need to reread my comments to make sure they make sense to everyone.

    My original comment was:
"I have my mail-in ballot so no worries for kids. That would be akward."

No I didn't mean "ward primaries"...silly Rachel. I meant I have no worries for having to take the kids to the voting booths since we have mail-in ballots.

Technically I am a sandy blonde so that makes me super smart.

  10. Oh man...I thought you meant primaries for the election. Geez. I guess I struck out tonight. The bleach must have got to my brain. I deserve the jokes tonight.

  11. Oh what great fun on this blog! Love that "sandy blonde" Meg and her teasing sister in law.

No idea how to best excuse the children. I don't remember ever having to wait for my parents though. I think the church has gotten more organized because I remember when primary was over all the kids just rushed out, usually knocking on the RS doors etc... You'll find a way that works best for you and the primary I'm sure. Don't be afraid to try a few different things...and also, to be okay with a little scatter craziness at times.

So...she said she voted, but she didn't say for who. Hmmm... wonder why the mystery??? Does she want to leave us all in suspense? Does she want to avoid political debate on her blog? Does she not want to have to defend her choice? Maybe she's just over this election like a lot of us.?? :)

I think I'm decided finally, but would still love to hear my trusty Sally's opinion.

    Love you! :)

  12. Usually I type my comment first, so I don't forget what I want to say...yes, I'm that forgetful! So what! Then I read all the other comments...but not today and boy were these comments funny! Meg and Rachel are cracking me up today!
Sally, I love the random thoughts. I'm hoping your car escaped unscathed!
