Are we in H-E-Double Hockey Sticks?

Seriously, is there any worse torture than family pictures?! And we only have two kids. I don't know how people with more do it!

Here we're even willing to bring out Bee if they'll just smile! Doesn't work.

Now we try to bribe them with popcorn balls that the photographer had in her car.

She still won't let go of the popcorn ball.

Okay. We're past the point of no return. Session over!

Thankfully, we did get a couple shots where at least they weren't crying, and no one was blinking! Look for our Christmas card coming soon.

Sally, Geez I'm so sorry but I actually love them because the kids are being themselves! Lauren looks like she just doesn't want it at all.

  5. These are always the thorn in my side. Doesn't matter how many kids are involved? But I am glad you found some keepers.

  6. ah family pictures.....and yeah, the photographer usually has to bribe (or mom and dad have to before-hand)
two kids are enough to have to try and handle with pictues---
but i've got to say that i like the pictures the best that show the personality of the family :) those are the memory-makers. :)

  7. I laughed so hard when I read this post, especially since we just finished family pictures and I felt your pain! Unfortunately for us, the person who was the most difficult was Keven! How hard is it for the DAD to just stand there and smile??? But NOOO...he complained the whole time about how much he hates getting pictures taken. The kids actually did pretty good (except the baby--that's a whole other story!)

  8. Oh the joys of taking family photos. I'm glad to hear you had some that turned out. I think it would be funny to send out one that wasn't perfect- it just shows how crazy and unperfect life really is. :)

  9. Sal,
In answers to your questions about "how other people with more children do it?" The trick with us, is we don't!!! It's SOOOO hard to get them all ready and get to where you're going to take the pics, and then the whole thing of trying to get everyone to smile and not cry is a whole other task. We just had a friend in our ward take them of the kids, and it toll the stress off of having to get myself ready for it, but they're always hard. Cheers to you and now you have an adorable Christmas card and family photo. I think I just gave you or new one. Let me know if you need it again, 'cause I definitely want one of those!
    Love,
    Andrea

  11. I laughed ~ this was too fun! Our family just did our annual session. I hate it, it's like a dental visit (sorry to any dentists reading this). I bribe the kids to get just ONE decent picture. This time they got to run and jump in puddles and play on very wet playground equipment after the pics were done. Nice clothes and mud... oh they were happy.

  12. Oh man! We just went to JCPenney last Saturday. Talk about H.E. double hockey sticks! First of all, the picture taker dude was just a lame bob. We were completely rushed through and Eli and Ivy just wanted to play with all the prop stuff. It stunk! I don't think we'll frequent JCPenney any time in the near future. I think I am becoming sold on outdoor pictures. I love your #4 picture. Very sweet! I think it's hilarious that you were willing to bring the bee and the popcorn ball into the picture just to get some happy faces of the kids:0) That's awesome!
